Resumen: En este trabajo se abordan las principales novedades legislativas y políticas en materia medioambiental en Japón en el año 2024. El principal hito lo ha protagonizado la aprobación del Sexto Plan Básico de Medio Ambiente que establece la nueva estrategia nacional en materia ambiental, basado en el bienestar y en la calidad de vida. De igual manera, destacan importantes novedades legislativas que pretenden dar respuesta a las prioridades estratégicas nacionales, pero también dar cumplimiento a los compromisos ambientales internacionales de Japón.
This paper addresses the main legislative and policy developments in environmental matters in Japan during 2024. The most significant milestone was the adoption of the Sixth Basic Environment Plan, which sets out the new national environmental strategy, centred on well-being and quality of life. Likewise, important legislative reforms stand out, aimed not only at responding to national strategic priorities but also at fulfilling Japan’s international environmental commitments.
